Description

Delicious pastry bites shaped like witch hats, perfect for Halloween parties or spooky gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for glaze)
  • 12 black olives (for eyes)
  • Green bell pepper strips (for band)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the Dough: Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles. Place a tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese on the wide end of each triangle.
  3. Shape the Hats: Roll each triangle starting from the wide end, shaping it into a curved, witch hat shape as you roll. Bend the tip slightly to give it a crooked appearance.
  4. Add Details: Brush the surface of each hat with the beaten egg for a shiny finish. Place two pieces of sliced black olives on each hat for eyes. Wrap a thin strip of green bell pepper near the base of each hat for the band, securing it in place.
  5. Bake: Place the shaped pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Finishing Touches: Once out of the oven, sprinkle black sesame seeds or poppy seeds for additional decoration, if desired. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Cheese Varieties: Experiment with different types of cheese for varied flavors, such as mozzarella or pepper jack.
  • Spice It Up: Add a dash of paprika or chili powder for extra flavor.
  • Presentation: Serve on a platter with a side of dipping sauce like marinara or ranch for added taste.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
