Description

A refreshing and colorful dessert that layers tropical fruits with whipped cream and cake for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup diced fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup peeled and sliced kiwi
  • 1 cup mandarin orange segments
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup diced mango
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1 sponge cake or ladyfingers, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional for extra sweetness)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruits: Wash and prepare all the fruits. Peel and dice the pineapple and mango. Peel and slice the kiwi. Divide the mandarin orange into segments and rinse the raspberries. Set aside.
  2. Cake Layering: Cut the sponge cake or ladyfingers into cubes. Place a layer of cake cubes at the bottom of a trifle dish.
  3. Moisten the Cake: Drizzle pineapple juice evenly over the cake layer to moisten it. This will add extra flavor and keep the cake soft.
  4. First Fruit Layer: Spread a layer of diced pineapple and sliced kiwi over the cake.
  5. Whipped Cream Layer: Add a generous layer of whipped cream over the fruits, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  6. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layers by adding another layer of cake cubes, followed by pineapple juice, and then a layer of mango, mandarin orange segments, and raspberries.
  7. Top Layer: Finish with a thick layer of whipped cream on top, ensuring it’s evenly spread.
  8. Decorate: Artistically arrange remaining fruit pieces on top and garnish with fresh mint leaves for added color and flavor.
  9. Chill: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together and the dessert to firm up.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can drape a tablespoon of honey over each fruit layer.
  • Feel free to substitute with other tropical fruits like papaya or passion fruit as per availability and preference.
  • Ensure your whipped cream is stiff enough to hold the layers together properly.
  • This dessert is best served cold, so make sure it’s well-chilled before serving.
