- Optional Toppings (like nuts, crushed candy canes, or flaky sea salt)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Line a 10×15-inch rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in the light brown sugar and bring to a vigorous boil.
- Boil the mixture for exactly 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour the hot toffee quickly over the saltine crackers.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for 2-3 minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.
- Top with any desired additions and press them gently.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Remove the Christmas Crack and break into pieces.
