Ingredients
Scale
- 20 Oreo cookies
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Twist open each Oreo cookie and spread a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture on one half. Top with the other half to create a sandwich.
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until smooth to form a batter.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour vegetable oil into a deep pan, about 2 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat and Fry the Oreos:
- Dip each Oreo sandwich into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Carefully place it into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Make sure the cream cheese is well softened for easy mixing.
- Test the oil temperature with a small drop of batter; it should sizzle immediately.
- Do not overcrowd the pan when frying to maintain a consistent oil temperature.
- These treats are best enjoyed immediately after frying while they’re warm and crispy.
