Description

A rich and indulgent chocolate trifle dessert featuring layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 chocolate pound cake or brownie, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chocolate pudding
  • 1 cup chocolate curls or shavings
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, etc.)
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Whipped Cream:
    – In a large bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
    – Beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  2. Layer the Dessert:
    – Place a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom of a glass or trifle dish.
    – Drizzle lightly with coffee liqueur if using.
    – Add a layer of chocolate pudding over the cake.
    – Spread a layer of whipped cream over the pudding.
    – If using berries, add a layer of mixed berries over the whipped cream.
  3. Repeat Layers:
    – Repeat the layers (cake, liqueur, pudding, whipped cream, berries) until the glass is full, ending with whipped cream on top.
  4. Add Chocolate Curls:
    – Garnish the top layer of whipped cream with chocolate curls or shavings.
  5. Chill:
    – Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate pudding.
  • For extra texture, sprinkle some crushed nuts between layers.
  • The dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur or replace it with a coffee syrup.
  • Ensure the whipped cream is very cold before beating for better peaks.
