Instructions
- Prepare Whipped Cream:
– In a large bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
– Beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Set aside. - Layer the Dessert:
– Place a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom of a glass or trifle dish.
– Drizzle lightly with coffee liqueur if using.
– Add a layer of chocolate pudding over the cake.
– Spread a layer of whipped cream over the pudding.
– If using berries, add a layer of mixed berries over the whipped cream. - Repeat Layers:
– Repeat the layers (cake, liqueur, pudding, whipped cream, berries) until the glass is full, ending with whipped cream on top. - Add Chocolate Curls:
– Garnish the top layer of whipped cream with chocolate curls or shavings. - Chill:
– Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate pudding.
- For extra texture, sprinkle some crushed nuts between layers.
- The dessert can be made a day in advance for convenience.
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the coffee liqueur or replace it with a coffee syrup.
- Ensure the whipped cream is very cold before beating for better peaks.
