- 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
- 3 tablespoons dark rum or coffee liqueur
- 250 grams mascarpone cheese
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 100 grams dark chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 packs ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
- Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Coffee Mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso with the dark rum or coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool.
- Prepare Chocolate Mascarpone Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese until smooth. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the whipped cream, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. Add the melted dark chocolate and vanilla extract to the mascarpone cheese, and mix until well combined. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone-chocolate mixture until smooth and well incorporated.
- Assemble Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture. Do not soak them. Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a rectangular serving dish. Spread half of the chocolate mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone. Spread the remaining chocolate mascarpone mixture over the final layer of ladyfingers.
- Finishing Touches: Smooth the top with a spatula. Dust with unsweetened cocoa powder. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
- Serving: Garnish with chocolate shavings before serving if desired. Slice and serve cold.

- For an extra rich flavor, consider adding a splash of coffee liqueur to the mascarpone mixture.
- Ensure the coffee is cooled before dipping the ladyfingers to avoid them becoming too soggy.
- For best results, let the tiramisu refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to fully develop.
