Description

This Pineapple Dump Cake is an easy and delicious dessert that combines a box cake mix with pineapples and cherry pie filling for a delightful treat.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box cake mix (we used pineapple cake mix)
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple (crushed is best)
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 stick butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup coconut (shredded, optional)
  • 1/2 cup nuts (chopped, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a 13×9 pan, dump your can of pie filling on the bottom and spread out evenly (we used cherry).
  2. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Sprinkle your cake mix on top of that evenly (we used pineapple cake mix, but yellow or white would be just fine if you can’t find it).
  4. Pour your can of crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits on top evenly, including the juice.
  5. Melt your stick of butter and pour that evenly on top.
  6. Sprinkle your sweetened shredded coconut over that, then sprinkle with nuts (we used crushed honey roasted pecans).
  7. Put into your oven at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until the middle of your pineapple dump cake is lightly browned and looks like it is stiffening up.
  8. Allow to cool a bit and then scoop out. You could put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Notes

  • This dessert can easily be customized with different flavors of cake mix or fruits.
  • Best served warm with ice cream on top.
