Description

A delicious and creamy pasta dish featuring bowtie pasta, smoked sausage, and cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Cook bowtie pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and garlic is fragrant.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet with the onion and garlic. Stir in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add Cheese and Seasonings: Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and the sauce is creamy. Add salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste.
  6. Mix Everything Together: Add the cooked pasta and sausage back into the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the cheesy sauce.
  7. Serve: Serve the pasta hot, garnished with additional cheese or chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine to the sauce after cooking the garlic.
  • You can substitute the smoked sausage with chicken or turkey sausage for a lighter option.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or use spicy sausage.
  • To make the dish vegetarian, omit the sausage and add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms.
