Description
An elegant and easy appetizer featuring baked brie topped with fig jam, walnuts, and fresh thyme. Perfect for gatherings!
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz. wheel of Brie
- ¼ cup fig jam
- ¼ cup finely chopped toasted walnuts (pecans also work)
- 1 small sprig fresh thyme (finely chopped, for dried use ¼ tsp)
- 1 tsp orange zest (optional but recommended)
- pinch coarse salt
- crackers and sliced baguette (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Place the brie wheel in a small cast iron skillet (or oven-safe dish) just a bit bigger than the brie itself, and then place the skillet on top of a baking sheet (just to catch any possible oozing cheese.) Cut criss-cross slits just through the top of the rind.
- Put the fig jam in a small microwave safe bowl and warm in the microwave just to loosen, about 15 seconds. Stir in the chopped nuts, chopped thyme, orange zest, and a pinch of salt.
- Pour/spread the fig-nut mixture over the brie, making sure the top is fully covered.
- Bake on the middle rack of the pre-heated oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until the brie becomes melted. (TIP: press gently with the back of a spoon to see if the cheese has melted on the inside.)
- Remove from the oven and let the brie sit for 3 to 5 minutes. Serve warm with bread, crostini, or crackers!
Notes
- Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
- This recipe can easily be doubled for larger gatherings.
