A delicious recipe for Swedish Meatballs served with creamy mashed potatoes and tender green beans.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef or pork (or mix)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 cups green beans, trimmed
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg
- ½ cup cream (for gravy)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground meat, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper; form small meatballs.
- Brown meatballs in a skillet, then remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter, whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute to make a roux.
- Gradually add beef broth and cream; whisk until smooth and thickened. Return meatballs and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Boil potatoes until tender, then mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
- Steam or sauté green beans until tender-crisp.
- Serve meatballs with gravy alongside mashed potatoes and green beans.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use a mix of beef and pork.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Leftover meatballs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
