Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar; let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
- Mix in butter, egg, sugar, and salt, then gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- Roll dough to ½-inch thick, cut into heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
- Let shaped dough rise 20 minutes.
- Heat oil to 350°F and fry donuts until golden on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels, then roll warm donuts in sugar to coat.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
- For a richer flavor, you can add vanilla extract to the dough.
- Donuts are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
