Description

Fluffy heart-shaped donuts coated in sweet sugar for a warm and loving treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Extra sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar; let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Mix in butter, egg, sugar, and salt, then gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead until smooth, then cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll dough to ½-inch thick, cut into heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  5. Let shaped dough rise 20 minutes.
  6. Heat oil to 350°F and fry donuts until golden on both sides.
  7. Drain on paper towels, then roll warm donuts in sugar to coat.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add vanilla extract to the dough.
  • Donuts are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
