- 4 slices of rustic or sourdough bread
- 200g mushrooms (sliced)
- 100g cheese (Gruyère, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Fresh thyme (to taste)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and place bread slices on a baking sheet.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet, then sauté garlic and mushrooms until golden and tender.
- Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Spoon mushroom mixture onto bread slices.
- Top with cheese and bake for 8–10 minutes until melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme.
- Serve warm as a snack, appetizer, or light meal.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the mushroom mixture.
- Feel free to substitute the cheese with your favorite melting cheese.
- Can be made vegetarian by ensuring the cheese is rennet-free.
