  • 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 2 green onions (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • Black food coloring (optional for dark “rats”)
  • Dipping sauce: soy sauce + rice vinegar + sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground meat, cabbage, onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Roll out dumpling wrappers into oval shapes; fill with 1 tbsp of filling.
  3. Fold and pinch the edges to seal, shaping the top into small ears and the end into a tail.
  4. For a spooky look, color half the dough with black food coloring before shaping.
  5. Steam for 10 minutes or pan-fry until golden on one side, then add water and cover to finish cooking.
  6. Arrange on a platter with tails curled, serving with soy dipping sauce.
  7. Optional: dot black sesame seeds for eyes before steaming.
