Description

Flaky cream-filled pastries disguised as roaches with chocolate details for a horrifyingly fun Halloween treat.

Ingredients

  • Puff pastry or choux pastry
  • Heavy cream (for filling)
  • Sugar
  • Cocoa powder (for coloring)
  • Chocolate syrup or melted chocolate (for body stripes/legs)
  • Black licorice strings (for antennae)
  • Butter
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and prepare puff pastry or choux dough.
  2. Pipe oval-shaped pastry mounds onto a baking sheet.
  3. Bake 20–22 minutes until puffed and golden; cool completely.
  4. Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla, then fill pastries.
  5. Brush tops lightly with cocoa/chocolate glaze to mimic bug-like coloring.
  6. Add stripes and body details with melted chocolate.
  7. Insert black licorice pieces for antennae to complete the cockroach look.

Notes

  • Ensure the pastries are completely cool before filling to prevent melting the cream.
  • Experiment with different chocolate designs for a unique look.
