Description

Delicious cranberry cream cheese pastry straws, perfect for a festive treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped cranberries, granulated sugar, orange zest, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry to make it slightly thinner.
  4. Cut the pastry into strips that are approximately 1 inch in width and 4 inches in length.
  5. Place a small amount of the cream cheese filling onto the center of each pastry strip.
  6. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling. Press the edges to seal; you may use a fork to crimp them for a decorative effect.
  7. Brush the tops of the filled pastries with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color as they bake.
  8. Arrange the pastry straws on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.
  9. Once out of the oven, let the pastry straws cool for a few minutes on a wire rack.
  10. If desired, sprinkle powdered sugar on top for an extra touch of sweetness.

Notes

  • These pastry straws make a great appetizer or dessert for holiday gatherings.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar based on your taste preferences.
