Description

Soft, chewy mochi filled with creamy centers, shaped into adorable bear faces — the perfect cute and sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour (mochiko)
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Cornstarch for dusting
  • Sweet cream or red bean paste for filling
  • White and milk chocolate (for face details)
  • Food coloring or cocoa powder (for brown mochi variation)

Instructions

  1. Mix mochiko, milk, and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
  2. Microwave for 1 minute intervals, stirring until thick and sticky. Add butter and mix.
  3. Dust a surface with cornstarch and knead the mochi gently until pliable.
  4. Divide dough into portions; shape into balls and flatten slightly.
  5. Place a small spoonful of filling in the center, wrap and seal.
  6. Use chocolate dots and small mochi pieces to form ears and bear faces.
  7. Chill for 15 minutes before serving for best texture.

Notes

  • For a brown mochi variation, add cocoa powder or food coloring to the dough.
  • Ensure the filling is not too hot when placing it in the mochi.
  • These mochi buns are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for a day.
